Liaison Interpreting

At Translation.ie we provide Liaison Interpreting services also known as Bilateral Interpreting for several different scenarios. This type of interpretation is mainly used in business meetings, interviews or negotiations that involve two or more participants and it lends itself best to small groups.

Our interpreters will be proficient in both languages involved in order to interpret back and forth between the parties, switching easily between the two. This can be done after a pause in a short speech, or consecutively, after each sentence is completed. Liaison interpreting is ideal for confidential or secret situations and in counselling or therapy settings.

No specialist equipment is needed for this type of interpreting but meticulous notes are taken to aide memoire and to enable a thorough review of the negotiations. Notes are destroyed immediately following the conclusion of the session.  In such scenarios, the interpreter needs to be immediately able to convey thoughts, expressions and nuances in the source language into comparable meaning in the target language and vice versa. The interpreter's goal is to precisely convey the semantic elements as well as tone and register of the messages between the participants.

Liaison Interpretation is suitable for informal meetings between people, for example, small business meetings or counselling sessions. However there is also a fun and informal side to liaison interpreting, including assisting at functions and weddings or acting as a chaperone for someone visiting a country whose language they do not speak.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with competitive rates and first class interpreters.
